Beijing / Updated: 2017-09-14 / PR Newswire / -- the fourth ICoTA China Chapter International Coiled Tubing Workshop was successfully held in Beijing, on Sep. 7th-8th, 2017. The workshop was hosted by ICoTA and organized by JASON.
Attendees of the Fourth ICoTA China Chapter International Coiled Tubing Workshop
As an international association specialized in coiled tubing, ICoTA is engaged in exchanging experience and sharing technologies to drive the development and application of coiled tubing technologies globally. Three seminars had been successfully held. At this workshop, the top experts from the USA, Canada and China delivered excellent speeches on their research projects. To better promote technology exchanges and further discuss the issues, the organization form was reformed this year in that forum was scheduled for the first time. The workshop was attended by about 40 entities, including scientific research institutions, like China University of Petroleum and Chongqing University of Science & Technology, big oil companies, like China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec Group and Anton Oilfield Services Group, as well as petroleum equipment manufacturers, like National Oilwell Varco, Jereh Group, Creat Group Corporation.
During the two days, ten meetings of academic sharing were held, focusing on the hot topics, technology innovation and development trend of the industry. The research projects shared included anti-corrosion analysis, fatigue life management, testing, drilling process and application of coiled tubing.
Mr. Gao Lei, chairman of ICoTA China and president of JASON Oil & Gas Equipment, LLC, delivered opening speech on behalf of the ICoTA headquarter. He said, the mission of ICoTA, an international association of coiled tubing, is to provide a platform of interaction and communication, where the discussions on the problems and development of coiled tubing technologies are conducted through gathering the efforts of the experts from across the world to yield extensive benefits. Gao called on the colleagues in the industry to carry forward the fine tradition of the association and jointly overcome the hardships, boosting the sustainable development of coiled tubing.
Ken Newman, president of Athena Engineering Services and founder of CTES Cerberus Software, delivered a speech on the research project of “Fatigue and Testing of Coiled Tubing”, where he illustrated a wide range of topics, such as fatigue life analysis, software for predicting fatigue life and testing of coiled tubing. Afterwards, the experts from home and abroad shared their technologies and experience on mechanical analysis, fatigue, testing, corrosion, drilling and application of coiled tubing, creating strong academic atmosphere.
The special guests of the forum included Mr. Gao Lei, chairman of ICoTA China Chapter, president of JASON Oil & Gas Equipment, LLC, Mr. Ken Newman, president of Athena Engineering Services and founder of CTES Cerberus Software and Mr. Bailey Epp of STEP Energy Services. The forum was focused on the hot topics of CT life evaluation, cases of abnormal failure operation, methods to prolong CT service life, new CT material, decision on CT retirement and state-of-art operation technologies, etc. The guests conducted in-depth discussions on the above topics, which made the highlight of the workshop.
In the era of low oil price, technological advances, cost reduction and efficiency improvement are critical for the industry development, so it becomes issue of common concern to develop the state-of-art operation technologies and prolong the service of coiled tubing. To meet the need to develop from the industry, the globally recognized experts gathered at this workshop to discuss on anti-corrosion analysis, fatigue life management, testing, drilling process, application, pioneering operation technologies of coiled tubing, etc. The guests commented that the workshop played a significant role in pushing forward the technological innovation, improving the operation and prolonging the service life of coiled tubing.
